Thanasis Dovris will conduct an acting workshop exploring poetic language and its relationship to contemporary theatrical speech.
We will seek to uncover the crucial importance of theatrical reading — not in terms of “excellence,” but in terms of commitment. Reading as a way of life for the actor, and the rejection of the polished, “official” reading. Using scenes from Shakespeare’s *Macbeth* and the work of Alexandros Papadiamantis, we will explore the tools for approaching poetic language and discover how it transforms into a contemporary, vibrant, and living form of expression.

The issue of power, the ability to exercise it, and the temptation to play at its limits are questions raised in *Macbeth* that now concern us more immediately than ever.
