Twelfth Night,
by William Shakespeare,
directed by Viky Georgiadou.

The Demidov Studio Athens Lab, after 3 years of research on Nikolai Demidov’s revolutionary acting technique, presents at the Horos Theatre (Praviou 6-8, Votanikos) its first experimental production with William Shakespeare’s *Twelfth Night*.
The Demidov Method remained hidden in Soviet Russia for over 70 years. Only in the early 21st century did the theatre community gain access to the principles of the actor’s creative process as developed by Nikolai Demidov. Under the direction and guidance of Viky Georgiadou, Demidov Studio Athens Lab is one of the first ensembles worldwide to experiment with applying the Demidov Method.

In this production, the actors explore the material of a playwright who loved his characters deeply, using the tools of a great pedagogue and theatre researcher who cherished the actor and their creative freedom.

In *Twelfth Night*, death opens the path to love.
A shipwreck opens a world of young people wandering through life.
Two twin siblings are separated by a tale of the sea.
Two young women, whose names echo each other, dive into the pursuit of life.
A duke from wild Illyria becomes a romantic hero, surrendering to the “deadly life” of love.
A deadly pirate is struck by Cupid’s arrow.
A chief steward tries to pull the strings of fate and falls into the trap of his own ambitions.
A Fool, cheerful and wise, tenderly softens souls and sharpens minds.
A group of revelers unite in a plot to take revenge on hypocrisy.
Knights and servants engage in secret nighttime games and daytime hideaways.
Between a Duke’s palace and a Countess’s mansion, the mythical world of Illyria unfolds.
People disguise themselves to change their destiny, and Fate plays with their disguises to reveal the grandeur of life.

*Twelfth Night* is a fairy tale crafted from the materials of reality.
Shakespeare generously and boldly opens the field of life before his characters, offering actors and audience alike a study of emotions and reconciliation with the many facets of human experience.
