About the Play

The Untouched is a play written to seal the uniqueness of the Human Being and to clearly highlight their defining difference from anything that may attempt to imitate them in the future. The claustrophobic environment of a cult American sect provides the ideal backdrop to explore in depth the ability of the human spirit to remain alive even in the most adverse conditions. The unexpected finale powerfully and sensitively declares that even when all the paths of life seem to lead to a dead end, the innermost essence of the human soul remains inaccessible, unsurpassable, and always magnificent.

The Story

Three sisters, Rebekah, Rachel, and Athaliah, are the last remaining members of the sect of the Untouched. They live in isolation in a forest in North America, anxiously awaiting the fulfilment of a prophecy about the end of the world. Everything, however, becomes dangerously complicated when a mysterious stranger arrives at their home…

Director’s Note

What remains of a person when the world around them collapses? What happens when faith turns into a prison, when you are trapped inside your own lie, when freedom seems dangerous, when truth becomes more precious than blood itself? The Untouched is a story of entrapment and redemption. Three sisters, isolated inside a para-religious refuge, struggle between the prophecies they inherited and the voices calling them to live – and everything is overturned when a Stranger breaks into their lives.

In our own era of fake news, social bubbles, extreme polarisation, and an invisible yet omnipresent technological surveillance, this story is not just a theatre play. It is a mirror that asks us: “Could it be that we too live in a prison we have named ‘normality’?” The Untouched speaks about the human being who thirsts to remain human. With their mistakes, contradictions, and madness, but also with the unsurpassable strength to hope, to resist, and to love. The Untouched addresses every thinking person and stands as a tribute to the “human” who, even in their darkest moments, was, is, and will be the unsurpassable mystery of the universe.
