IN BRIEF
Little Red Riding Hood in the Forest of Fairy Tales, an original adaptation of the beloved story for both children and adults, premieres at the Yioulis Iliopoulos Children’s Stage at Ideal on Sunday, February 20, directed by Elena Mavridou. A contemporary, magical, and fairytale-like world invites the whole family on a journey full of humor and emotion, overturning all the stereotypes of the well-known story.
Little Red Riding Hood traverses the forest of fairy tales. Along the way, she encounters flying fish, a hunter who is also a karate teacher, dolls wearing masks, and even a dancing wolf! It doesn’t matter that she feels fear. She knows that if she recognizes her fear and embraces it, it will retreat. Slowly, she learns that through her interactions with all the story’s characters—even the “evil” wolf—she will move forward more maturely on her path to adulthood. She only needs to believe in herself. After all, how truly “evil” is the wolf (who hides within us)?
Accompanying her on this journey are the young audience members, who actively participate throughout the performance, helping the little heroine avoid pitfalls and discover the true meaning of her journey. Only hope for the future can support her through the challenges she faces. And young children are always the best ambassadors for this message.
