A Note on Electra,
Based on Sophocles’ Electra,
directed by Giorgos Matziaris.

IN BRIEF

Taking Sophocles’ *Electra* as its point of departure and guided by the principle of the three actors, three male performers embody one of the bloodiest myths, rediscovering it and building bridges between past and present. What is ethos and what is justice? What happens when institutions collapse and barbarity overwhelms the city? *Electra* as a symbol of the unconscious or as a figure of political dimensions? Which power has ever reached the top without the blood of its rival, and which next ruler will not seize it in the same way? Why must we not forget? A new generation, in a time of great upheavals and questions, enters into dialogue with its own past in order to find a clear gaze to confront the present.

Whatever grows in solitude becomes wild… and survives.
