About the Play
*Beba* is an original, multi-layered Greek play that focuses on the strength of the female spirit against harsh social conditions. Set in 1950s–1960s Greece, it highlights issues of social oppression and abuse faced by both women and men, while illuminating the path to redemption. Michael Seibel’s direction balances realism and symbolism, silence and eruption, light and shadow—revealing the unspoken through precise and emotionally charged imagery. The stage spaces act as “psychic landscapes”: the **port** symbolizes hope, movement, and freedom; the **cabaret** exudes geometric confinement and tension; the **home** embodies calmness that is also cold and empty. Light becomes a psychological commentary, while projections serve as layers of associative memory, adding depth and emotional rhythm to the action. The characters unfold on multiple levels, revealing contradictions and inner transformations. Together with the minimalist scenography and the atmospheric direction, they form the foundation for a theatrical experience that moves, awakens, and remains indelibly etched in the spectator’s memory.
Social Action
As part of our social responsibility, we are pleased to announce that a portion of the proceeds will be donated to **Diotima Center**—the only organization in Greece offering free specialized legal aid and court representation for survivors of gender-based violence. In this way, we aim for art and culture to serve as catalysts for genuine social contribution.
